Love Your Auto

Pretty much everyone has a car of some sorts these days. A few own shiny, zippy sports coups. Others get around on a humble set of wheels. Whatever your car may be, you probably find yourself looking things up occasionally to make sure that rattle you hear under the hood is normal or the small bit of oil leaking out of the pan will be a quick fix. Even if you’re not a car aficionado, you probably do find yourself on an automotive blog or forums every once in a while. So even though you might not be shooting for “car expert of the year,” knowing what’s going on with your vehicle can keep your car out of the shop later on.

There are a few things you can do to improve the longevity of your car like keeping up on all regularly scheduled oil changes and tune-ups. If you’re feeling ambitious, you could even teach yourself how to do some of the more basic maintenance jobs. Read auto blogs and see what others advise when starting a do-it-yourself oil change or spark plug replacement. Learning how to do an oil change isn’t rocket science, but there are some very important things you need to know before getting started. If you’re not sure about something, double check your instructions. When in doubt, always take your car into a good mechanic to get the work done. While you might save a little doing your own maintenance, if you make a mistake, it can end up costing you hundreds in repairs later on.
